Comparison of animo acid compositions by the procedure of Cornish-Bowden [Meth. Enzymol. 91, 60–75 (1983)] suggests that eukaryotic ferritins and bacterial cytochromes b557.5, also known as bacterioferritin, have similar amino acid sequences. The comparison test also indicates that eukaryotic cytochrome b5 and bacterioferritin may be related.
