Publisher SummaryThe chapter discusses the amino acid esters of the ribonucleic acid (RNA), nucleosides, and related compounds. In this chapter, the literature on the chemistry of the amino acid esters of RNA, nucleotides, and nucleosides is surveyed. The related compounds includes: (i) compounds designed or investigated as models for the amino acid esters; (ii) substances containing amino acids, peptides, or carboxylic acids bound to RNA, nucleotides, or nucleosides, either in an unspecified type of binding or in a non ester linkage. The topic of the current review is partly dealt, with numerous reviews of protein synthesis; transfer the ribonucleic acid (tRNA) on nucleic acid chemistry. A number of compounds or classes of compounds that, in structure or function, are related to the amino acid esters of RNA and nucleosides should be mentioned. The role of the nucleotide peptide compounds in the metabolism of the cell is still obscure. The abstracts from a recent symposium reflect some aspects of the work on this class of compounds.
