  • Immunosuppressant effect of salicylate and quinine on antibody forming cells
  • Add time:08/30/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

Salicylate and quinine, alone and in combination, were added to suspensions of sensitized mouse spleen cells and analyzed for hemolysin plaque forming cells according to the Jerne localized hemolysin-in-gel technique. The in vitro results of this study indicated a suppression of hemolysin plaque forming cells by both agents. Serum hemolysin titers, on the other hand, were not affected by the in vitro addition of either drug. In vivo, salicylate was effective in reducing the response to sheep erythrocyte antigen as determined by the hemolysin plaque forming cell assay; quinine had no effect. Drug administration had no effect on the animals' serum hemolysin titers. Treatment with a combination of the two agents gave results which indicated a possible synergism.
