Diatrizoic Acid is a white, odorless and tasteless crystalline powder. The sodium salt is colorless and odorless its taste is reported as both weakly salty and slightly bitter. The methylglucamine salt is colorless, odorless and has a slight sweetish taste. Diatrizoic acid is chemically stable at room temperature. Sodium diatrizoate dissolved in dimethylformamide can be litrated potentiometrically with perchloric acid in dioxane.
