  • Chapter 10 - Zinc Phosphate Ceramics
  • Add time:08/30/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

The history of zinc phosphate dental cements and a theoretical basis of the syntheses of these ceramics are provided. They were the first chemically bonded phosphate ceramics (CBPCs) developed and used as dental cements, and hence their mineralogical composition has been well studied. The literature review suggests that their kinetics of formation closely follows the solution chemistry principles, and hence such ceramics can be produced with other combinations of zinc oxide and monobasic acid phosphates. However, due to the large amount of exothermic heat generated during their formation, they can be produced only for small-scale applications such as dental cement.
