Fifteen complexes of diacetamide and Group IIB metal salts have been isolated. It was found that HgCl2·2DA, HgBr2·2DA, CdBr2·DA and CdBr2·1·5DA contain diacetamide in the cis-trans dimeric form, whereas ZnCl2·DA, ZnBr2·DA, ZnI2·DA, Zn(NO3)2·2DA, Zn(ClO4)2·3DA, CdI2·DA, Cd(NO3)2·2·5DA and Cd(ClO4)2·3DA are bidentate complexes with diacetamide in the trans-trans configuration. The most interesting case was found for cadmium chloride which formed 3 isomers of CdCl2·DA·H2O: with diacetamide in the trans-trans form, the cis-trans dimeric form and the unstable cis-trans monomeric form. All of the complexes involving diacetamide in the cis-trans dimeric form are probably polymeric.
