The blue luminescent material BaQ2 was synthesized greenly in water medium in a yield of 96.09%. The structure of BaQ2 was characterized by Fourier transform infrared absorption spectroscopy (FTIR) and the vibrational absorption peak of Ba-O was detected at 480 cm−1. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results show that the purity of BaQ2-A can reach about 99%, and it can be directly used as luminescent materials. X-ray Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis confirmed the bonding between elements of BaQ2-A. The morphology of BaQ2-A was observed by scanning electron microscope. The morphology of BaQ2-A is nanorods, and the length is 4.7 μm–5.2 μm. Diameter is 400 nm–980 nm. The ratio of length to diameter is 5.3:12.0. Because of its large length to diameter ratio, it can be used in organic electronic devices. The emission wavelength of BaQ2-A was measured at 472 nm by fluorescence spectrometry, and blue light can be observed clearly. TG-DSC analysis shows that the decomposition temperature of BaQ2-A is 476℃, which has high thermal stability. Therefore, BaQ2 powder has important application value in organic luminescent devices.
