  • Chapter 3 - Synthesis of Heterocycles by Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylative Reactions
  • Add time:08/30/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

This chapter is intended to give an overview on the recent developments in the field of the palladium-catalyzed synthesis of carbonylated heterocycles by the direct introduction of carbon monoxide (carbonylation) into an acyclic precursor. This chapter is divided into two main sections: The first main Section 3.2 deals with carbonylation processes leading to the formation of heterocycles with incorporation of CO into the cycle (cyclocarbonylations), while the second main Section 3.3 illustrates the recent advancements in the synthesis of carbonylated heterocycles without incorporation of CO into the cycle (i.e., with incorporation of CO as an exocyclic carbonyl function). In both cases the basic principles and mechanistic patterns are discussed. However, the specific paradigmatic examples presented in this chapter are mainly taken from the most recent literature (since 2012 to April 2017).
