Present work reports the synthesis of a polymer nanocomposite film of nano-sized Zinc Oxide and Polymethyl-methacrylate and its application in the museums and art galleries for absorbing ultra-violet radiations falling on the objects which are vulnerable to it. The Zinc Oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using facile sol–gel technique and Zinc Oxide and Polymethyl-methacrylate polymer nanocomposite was prepared by simple mixing. The size of nanoparticles and uniformity of the thin film were determined using optical and electron microscopy. Thermal stability of the Zinc Oxide and Polymethyl-methacrylate polymer nanocomposite was studied with the help of thermogravimetric analysis. The efficiency of thin coated film of synthesized polymer nanocomposite material was investigated by using a UV monitor in museum conditions.
