The rhombohedral (R3) compounds green DIOPTASE (cas 15606-25-4), CuSiO3H2O, and black dioptase, CuSiO3, are both antiferromagnetic. Their Néel temperatures are respectively near 50 and 110 K. The magnetic structure of the anhydrous compound has been studied by powder neutron diffraction. The magnetic moment of Cu is of order 0.5 μB.
