Magnetite nano-particles (MNPs) have better potential in environmental, biomedical, and clinical use, because they have several unequaled properties. This study was conducted to investigate the preparation and use of grafted β‑cyclodextrin/thermo-sensetive polymer onto modified Fe3O4@SiO2 nano-particles (MNPs-AGENVC-CD) for the removal of Fenitrothion (cas 122-14-5) from aqueous solution. MNPs were synthesized and characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDX), elemental analysis (CHN), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effect of some operational parameters, such as pH value, adsorption isotherms, sorption kinetics, reusability, adsorption/desorption temperature, and ultrasound effect on desorption of fenitrothion removed from aqueous solution were examined. In this study, the optimized parameters were also tested for pesticide removed from real water samples. The results showed that the best sorption of fenitrothion on the MNPs-AGENVC-CD took place at 25 °C and optimum pH of 6. The initial concentration and nano-sorbent dosage were 100 mg L−1 and 0.01 g, respectively. The kinetic study showed that the best time for the pesticide sorption was 5 min. Also, the pseudo-second-order model used fitted the adsorption kinetics well, thus exhibiting high correlation coefficients. Fenitrothion sorption capacity was found to be 30 mg g−1. The equilibrium data of fenitrothion modified by the MNPs-sorbent were correctly shown by Langmuir, Freundlich, Redlich-Peterson, and Temkin models. The data fitted well to Langmuir equation, thus showing the monolayer adsorption. According to the results, fenitrothion adsorption efficiency by MNPs-AGENVC-CD from aqueous solution and real water samples was >99%. Therefore, the proposed method was the promising method for the adsorption of fenitrothion.
