This chapter discusses epoxy resins, which are formed from an oligomer containing at least two epoxide groups and a curing agent. The chapter explains how the formation of epoxy resins was invented and introduced to the market. A great variety of such resins and monographs is available on the market. The specialties and the method of manufacturing these epoxy resins are elaborately explained in this chapter. There are many special additives used in the formation of the material to enhance and strengthen it for all conditions. The epoxide group reacts with several substance classes. Only a few of the possible reactions are used for curing in practice. Mechanical properties of epoxy resins can be correlated and traced back to the constituting monomers. The recycling of wastes of epoxy resins is very difficult and the most efficient methods are identified. For fulfilling this purpose, many effective applications, usages, and special formulations are given.
