A simplified procedure of enantioselective ruthenium-catalyzed hydrogenation of functionalized ketones using commercially available [RuCl2(COD)]n, (COD = cis,cis-cycloocta-1,5 diene) mixed with the chiral diphosphines (BINAP, MeO-BIPHEP, DuPHOS) is reported. Under these conditions, C-O groups were completely hydrogenated with excellent enantiomeric excesses (up to 99 %).
