Fairly stable tris(polychlorophenyl)thallium(III) R3Tl (I, R = C6Cl5; II, R = 2,3,5,6-C6HCl4) have been prepared from thallic chloride and the corresponding chlorophenyllithium. I and II react with some amines forming 11 complexes. II reacts with M(π-C3H5)ClL (M = Pd or Pt, L = PPh3 or pyridine) to give a novel type of complexes M(π-C3HP5)(C6HCl4)L. Au(C6HCl4)(PPh3) can be isolated similarly from II and AuCl(PPh3).
