The reaction of [RhCl(CO)2]2 with tricyclohexylphosphine oxide (Cy3PO) (Rh/Cy3PO molar ratio 1) gives the dicarbonyl derivative, cis-[RhCl(CO)2(Cy3PO)], which is stable toward loss of carbon monoxide and subsequent dimerization. An X-ray structure determination shows that the rhodium is in a square-planar cis-dicarbonyl configuration.
