Organic coating has been widely used to protect all kinds of corrosion of iron historic and cultural relics, while what’s the most commonly used is not very desirable in its durability, mechanical properties and hydrophobicity. In order to improve these limitations, a novel polyurethane acrylate coating(UV-PFPUA) bearing POSS and fluorine group were investigated and successfully fabricated using G04, 8MA-POSS, HDDA, PETA, laboratory-made T7@PUA, and photo initiator 1173. Furthermore, a series of UV-PFPUA coating synthesized with different contents of 8MA-POSS and G04 were coated on tinplates, which simulate iron cultural relics. And then the Structural characterization, surface morphology, hydrophobicity, absorption, thermal, mechanical properties and durability of the UV-PFPUA coating were analyzed, and the obtained results indicated that the UV-PFPUA coating exhibited better thermostability, mechanical properties, excellent hydrophobicity and durability when the content of G04 was 25% and POSS was 6%, namely the synthetic UV-PFPUA material could provide excellent protective properties for iron cultural relics.
