  • ε-Martensite formation for low strains in a lean duplex stainless steel
  • Add time:10/01/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

Martensitic transformation induced by strain in duplex stainless steels is a good option to increase their strength and elongation. The influence of low deformation levels on the phase transformation was studied in a 2304 lean duplex stainless steel. It was demonstrated that this steel exhibited the phase transformation of austenite (γ) into epsilon (ε) and alpha (α′) martensite after cold rolling. The ε and α′ were observed in shear bands and close to the grain boundaries. The Shoji–Nishiyama relation 110γ//2110ε was observed. Hitherto, the ε formation has not been reported in the literature for this steel by cold deformation.
