This chapter discusses organotin compounds, and their extensive use in organic synthesis is briefly outlined. After an account of spectroscopic methods and the reactions by which the tin-carbon bond can be formed, the different types of organotin compounds, and their various derivatives are discussed, together with separate sections devoted to tin–tin and tin–metal bonded compounds, stannyl radicals, stannylenes, stannenes, and stannynes.
