The chlorination process of anhydrous indium(III) oxalate with carbon tetrachloride vapour in an argon stream was studied at different temperatures (200, 250, 300, 350, 400 and 450 °C) and times (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 h) each. The reaction products were analysed by determination of indium and chlorine content aimed at their purity control. From the results obtained, a new simple method was developed for preparation of pure anhydrous indium(III) chloride.
