Energy distributions over vinyl chloride photofragment in 3-chloro-3-methyldiazirine photolysis at 416, 365 and 337 nm in SF6, and over ethylene in 3-methyldiazirine photolysis at 313 nm and in diazoethane (cas 1117-96-0) at 435 and 250 nm have been calculated by direct deconvolution of experimental results. A dynamic model, which provides a reasonable fitting of the energy distributions, has been developed. The model gives a rational approach to the interpretation of the results. The main conclusion is that diazirine and diazocompounds have totally different dynamics. The former seems to involve a two-step process with a well present between the consecutive breakage of the diazirine cycle. Diazocompound photofragmentation seems to be influenced less by the potential surface topography.
