  • A new nickel selenate templated by piperazine: chemical preparation, crystal structure, thermal decomposition, and magnetic properties
  • Add time:09/29/2019         Source:infona.pl

Single crystals of (C4H12N2)[Ni(H2O)6](SeO4)2 were synthesized by the slow evaporation method from an aqueous solution of piperazine hexahydrate, nickel(II) carbonate, and selenic acid. This hybrid compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c, with the following unit cell parameters: a = 6.0205(2) Å, b = 11.1529(3) Å, c = 12.1287(3) Å, β = 96.439(3)°, V = 809.26(4) Å3 and Z = 2. Its supramolecular structure consists of isolated [Ni(H2O)6]2+ and (C4H12N2)2+ cations and (SeO4)2− anions linked together by a three-dimensional hydrogen bond network. The thermal decomposition of the precursor proceeds through three stages, giving rise to nickel oxide. The magnetic measurements show that the title compound is predominantly paramagnetic with weak antiferromagnetic interactions at low temperature. Graphical
