  • Desiccation of potato cultivars with ENDOTHAL (cas 145-73-3) and adjuvants
  • Add time:09/28/2019         Source:infona.pl

Desiccants are used in potato production to remove haulms prior to harvest to facilitate harvest. New formulations of the desiccant ENDOTHAL (cas 145-73-3) were compared to diquat for potential as a top desiccant on four potato cultivars. Tubers were stored at 3 o C and 95% RH for determination of daughter tuber sprouting in the following year. There was no consistent difference in desiccation between endothal-mono and endothal-mixed formulations across years or between cultivars. The addition of ammonium sulphate with an adjuvant (LI-700) increased leaf and stem desiccation with endothal-mono formulation, but, copper sulphate with adjuvant was less effective. Endothal gave slower leaf and stem desiccation than diquat at 3 and 7 days after treatment. Tuber parameters were not different between the two desiccants. There was no effect on the number of eyes that sprouted or sprout fresh and dry weight compared to untreated controls.
