3,7-DinitroDibenzobromolium (cas 244-34-8) bisulfate (5) is prepared directly by reaction of 4,4-dinitrobiphenyl with sodium bromide and potassium persulphate in concentrated sulphuric acid. Reduction of the compound5 with SnCl 2 -HCl gives 3,7-diaminodibenzobromolium chloride (6). Reactions of the diazosalt solution obtained by diazotisation of the compound6 , with Cu 2 Cl 2 , Cu 2 Br 2 , and KI give 3,7-dichlorodibenzobromolium chloride (7), 3,7-dibromodibenzobromolium bromide (8), and 3,7-diiododibenzobromolium iodide (9), respectively. Structures of these new compounds (5--9) are established by 1 H NMR, MS and IR.
