In this study, we report a simple method to synthesize a novel green nanocatalyst using titanium dioxide, graphene and Citrus sinensis peel extract using a low-power CO2 laser fabrication. The relevance of the resulting nanomaterial (Lp-TiO2/G-nCSP) for the photocatalytic degradation of Reactive Red-45 (RR-45) was studied exhaustively. Compared to the commercial TiO2 photocatalyst, the green synthesized and laser-fabricated nanocatalyst exhibited better UV-light irradiated photocatalytic activity for RR-45 degradation. The laser fabricated nanocatalyst was systematically characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). At optimum conditions, the dye was completely degraded in 10 min by Lp-TiO2/G-nCSP nanocatalyst. LC-MS and HPIC profiles of RR-45 after the photodegradation proved the efficacy of the adopted strategy, and novelty of the synthesized nanocatalyst towards the RR-45 degradation.
