The fresh [email protected] Zeolite Imidazolate Framework-8 ([email protected]) was exploited as an prospective adsorbent for the removal and abruption of U(VI) ions from aqueous solutions for the first time. The material exhibited a latent adsorption capacity of 277.77 mg g−1 and an eminent selectivity to U(VI) at pH = 4.5. Moreover the adsorption property of this novel adsorbent was in accord well with the Langmuir, Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Given the superiorities of this sorbent including high adsorption capacity, selectivity, and environment-friendly, it may be an effective candidate for the uptake of U(VI) ions for practical application.
