Targeted delivery of antiosteoarthritic drugs is now an emerging field. Therefore Diacerein laden nanoemulsion with Glucosamine sulphate as homing carrier was prepared to combat against osteoarthritis by the synergistic effect of both the drugs. For this study a nanoemulsion system was composed of oleic acid as the oil phase and Tween 80 & PEG400 as surfactants. This system was found to combine successfully the o/w nanostructure with the network of Glucosamine Sulphate having particle size 174nm and zeta potential -25.4mV. The morphology of the particles was studied by SEM and TEM. It showed good stability and powerful permeation ability by following anomalous zero order release mechanism. Thus the nanoemulsion can be a promising carrier for high topical delivery of lipophilic drug Diacerein in the polysaccharide Glucosamine sulphate network which showed the good potency against osteoarthritis.
