 (R)-2-(2,4-Dichlorophenoxy)propanoic acid (CAS NO.15165-67-0) has been used of phenoxy propionic acid herbicides. It is a hormone-type herbicide within the absorbent. There are special effects for Malaysia Polygonum and Polygonum spring, and it is effective for Galium aparine and Stellaria and is invalid with Polygonum aviculare.

Mixing Methyl L-2-chloropropionate ([α] 20D-25.2 o), Methanol , and 33% Sodium hydroxide aqueous solution at 40 ℃. At 90 ℃,they would be added to the mixture of 2,4 - Dichloro-phenol , Sodium hydroxide and water, and then heating 1h to get high 2,4 - Drop acid sodium salt .

A poison by ingestion. Low toxicity by inhalation and skin contact. Experimental reproductive effects. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic vapors of Cl⁻.
