Uses of 5-Pyrimidinemethanol,a-methyl-2-(methylthio)-: it can be used to produce 5-(1-chloroethyl)-2-methylthiopyrimidine by heating. It will need reagent SOCl2 and solvent dioxane with reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 62 %.
