Preparation of 7-Methoxyindole: this chemical can be prepared by methanol; sodium salt with 7-iodoindole. This reaction needs reagent cuprous iodide and solvents dimethylformamide, methanol at temperature of 120 °C. The reaction time is 1 hour. The yield is 76 %.

The reaction occurs with reagent AcOH. The reaction time is 56 hour. The yield is 82 %.

7-Methoxyindole can react with 1-methyl-4-(2-methyl-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl)-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridine to get 2-[2-(methylamino)ethyl]-8-methoxy-1-methyl-9H-carbazole.
