Production method of this chemical: The Benzenemethanol, 4-methoxy-α- (4-methoxyphenyl)- could be obtained by the reactant of 4,4'-dimethoxy-benzophenone. This reaction needs the reagents of Zn, KOH, and the solvent of ethanol.

Uses of this chemical: The chloro-bis-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-methane could be obtained by the reactant of Benzenemethanol, 4-methoxy-α- (4-methoxyphenyl)-. This reaction needs the reagent of oxalyl chloride, and the solvent of CH2Cl2. The yield is 90 %. This reaction should be taken for 1.5 hours at the temperature of 20 °C.
