Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by methanol; sodium salt and bis(trimethylsilymethyl)chloromethoxysilane. This reaction will need solvent tetrahydrofuran. The reaction time is 30 min. The yield is about 94%.

Uses of Bis(trimethylsilylmethyl)dimethoxysilane: it can be used to produce 1-methoxy-1,3,3-trimethyl-[1,3]disiletane. The reaction time is 70 min with reaction temperature of 790 ℃. The yield is about 40%.
