EPA Extremely Hazardous Substances List.
Poison by ingestion and skin contact. When Chlorthiophos (CAS NO.21923-23-9) is heated to decomposition ,it emits toxic fumes of Cl−, POx, and SOx.
1.Reactivity Profile: Organophosphates, such as Chlorthiophos, are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides.
2.Health Hazard :Classified as extremely hazardous by the World Health Organization(Non-Specific -- Organophosphorus Pesticide) Organic phosphorus insecticides are absorbed by the skin, as well as by the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. They are cholinesterase inhibitors.
3.Fire Hazard :(Non-Specific -- Organophosphorus Pesticide, Liquid, n.o.s.) Container may explode in heat of fire.
