Preparation: this chemical is prepared by reaction of Furan-2-yl-lithium with bis-Trimethylsilanyl peroxide. The reaction needs solvents Diethyl ether and Hexane. The reaction temperature is 10 °C. The yield is about 57 %.

Uses: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it is used to produce 5-(3-Methyl-but-2-enyl)-5H-furan-2-one. This reaction will need catalyst AgOCOCF3 and solvent CH2Cl2. This reaction needs three steps, the reaction conditions are 1.) -78 °C, 20 min; 2.) -78 °C to -20 °C, 3h; 3.) 24 °C, 10 min. The yield is about 95 %.
