Molybdic acid Specification

The Molybdic(VI) acid, with the CAS registry number 7782-91-4 and EINECS registry number 231-970-5, has the systematic name of dihydroxy(dioxo)molybdenum. It is a kind of white crystals or crystalline powder, and belongs to the following product categories: Inorganics; ACS GradeChemical Synthesis; Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry; Essential Chemicals; Molybdenum; Routine Reagents. The molecular formula of this chemical is H2MoO4. And the salts of molybdic acid are called molybdates.

The physical properties of Molybdic(VI) acid are as following: (1)#H bond acceptors: 4; (2)#H bond donors: 2; (3)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 0; (4)Polar Surface Area: 52.6 Å2.

Preparation of Molybdic(VI) acid: Break up the molybdenum ore, and heat it to 500-550°C in the roasting oven for 6-8 hours. Add aqua ammonia, and you can get the ammonium molybdate solution. After impurity removal, acidulate it with nitric acid, and it will give out molybdic acid precipitate. And then you can get the desired product after a series of washing, centrifugation, drying and grinding.
2MoS2 + 7O2 → 2MoSO3 + 2SO2
MoSO3 + 2NH4OH → (NH4)2MoO4 + H2O
(NH4)2MoO4 + HNO3 + H2O → H2MoO4.H2O + 2NH4NO3
 H2MoO4.H2O  → H2MoO4 + H2O

Uses of Molybdic(VI) acid: It is used as the material of molybdenum class catalyst and molybdenum salts, and it is also used as precipitator and visualization reagent. It is used for the determination of Phosphorus, phosphate, silicate, lead, aluminum and so on. What's more, it also plays a role in the electronics industry.

You should be cautious while dealing with this chemical. It irritates eyes, respiratory system and skin. Therefore, you had better take the following instructions: Do not breathe dust and avoid contact with skin and eyes.

You can still convert the following datas into molecular structure:
