Preparation of 4-Amino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid: it is prepared by sulfonation of naphthylamine. The reaction occurs with solvent trichlorobenzene at the temperature of 185-190 °C and vacuum of 2.67-5.33 kPa for 3.5 hours.

Uses of 4-Amino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid: it is used as azo dyes intermediate and also food coloring. Besides, it is used to produce 4-amino-3-bromonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid. The reaction needs reagents Br2, 100percent H2SO4 at the temperature of 45 °C for 3.5 hours. The yield is about 88%.

4-Amino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid is used to produce 4-amino-3-bromonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid.
