Pindolol Specification

The IUPAC name of Visken is 1-(1H-indol-4-yloxy)-3-(propan-2-ylamino)propan-2-ol. With the CAS registry number 13523-86-9 and EINECS 236-867-9, it is also named as Pindolol. The product's categories are Heterocyclic Compounds; Pindolol; Serotonin Receptor. It is white to off-white crystalline powder which is easily soluble in acetic acid, slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in water or benzene. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx.

The other characteristics of this product can be summarized as: (1)ACD/LogP: 1.97; (2)# of Rule of 5 Violations: 0; (3)ACD/LogD (pH 5.5): -1.06; (4)ACD/LogD (pH 7.4): 0.07; (5)ACD/BCF (pH 5.5): 1; (6)ACD/BCF (pH 7.4): 1; (7)ACD/KOC (pH 5.5): 1; (8)ACD/KOC (pH 7.4): 3.5; (9)#H bond acceptors: 4; (10)#H bond donors: 3; (11)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 7; (12)Polar Surface Area: 26.63 Å2; (13)Index of Refraction: 1.596; (14)Molar Refractivity: 73.41 cm3; (15)Molar Volume: 215.4 cm3; (16)Surface Tension: 47.5 dyne/cm; (17)Enthalpy of Vaporization: 75.57 kJ/mol; (18)Vapour Pressure: 3.77E-09 mmHg at 25°C; (19)Rotatable Bond Count: 6; (20)Exact Mass: 248.152478; (21)MonoIsotopic Mass: 248.152478; (22)Topological Polar Surface Area: 57.3; (23)Heavy Atom Count: 18; (24)Complexity: 248.

Preparation and Uses of Visken: It can be obtained by the amination of 4-(1,2-epoxypropoxy) indole and isopropylamine. Visken is a nonselective beta blocker with partial beta-adrenergic receptor agonist activity. What's more, it is sometimes added to a standard antidepressant therapy, if the patient fails to respond to the standard therapy alone.
