Preparation of Trimethyl-(trimethylsilylmethylsulfanylmethyl)silane: this chemical can be prepared by Chloromethyl-trimethyl-silane. This reaction needs reagent Na₂S, n-Bu₄NI and solvent H₂O. The yield is 79%.

Use of Trimethyl-(trimethylsilylmethylsulfanylmethyl)silane: it is used to produce Bromo-trimethylsilanyl-trimethylsilanylmethylsulfanyl-methane. The reaction occurs with reagent N-Bromosuccinimide and solvent CCl₄. The yield is 98%.
