General Description
Beta-Aminoethyl isothiourea (AET) is a chemical compound with the formula C3H10N2S. It is a potent inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase, an enzyme that catalyzes the production of nitric oxide in the body. AET has been studied for its potential therapeutic applications, particularly in the treatment of septic shock, a condition characterized by a dysregulated immune response to infection. AET has also been investigated for its role in modulating neurotransmitter systems and has been shown to inhibit the release of dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine in the brain.
