The present invention relates to: a thyroid hormone derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of diseases of the brain and nervous system due to dopamine deficiency, containing the same as an active ingredient; and a method for treating diseases of the brain and nervous system caused by dopamine deficiency. The thyroid hormone derivative according to the present invention can promote the differentiation of neural progenitors into dopamine neurons like thyroid hormones, while lowering the risk of hyperthyroidism by repeated administration, and thus, can be useful for the prevention and treatment of diseases of the brain and nervous system due to dopamine deficiency, including Parkinsonandprime;s disease.
