Low toxicity by ingestion. Probably a severe eye, skin, and mucous membrane irritant. A powerful oxidizer. Energetic reactions (possibly leading to ignition) with acetone; ammonia; aniline; and diphenylamine could become explosive if large amounts were confined. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Cl− and NOx.
