Acid Violet 17 Specification

The IUPAC name of Acid Violet 17 is sodium 3-[[4-[[4-(diethylamino)phenyl]-[4-[ethyl-[(3-sulfonatophenyl)methyl]azaniumylidene]cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene]methyl]-N-ethylanilino]methyl]benzenesulfonate. With the CAS registry number 4129-84-4, it is also named as Violet bnp; ADC Acid Brilliant Milling Violet 4BS. The product's categories are dyes and pigments; organics. It is deep navy blue powder which is easily soluble in water. The aqueous solution is purple, and it is dark purple by adding sodium hydroxide solution. In addition, this chemical is easily soluble in ethanol, showing purple blue. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it appeared red yellow.

Preparation of Acid Violet 17: Using 1-(N-ethylanilino)-m-toluenesulfonic acid, formaldehyde and N, N-diethyl aniline as the raw materials. First, condensating 1-(N-ethylanilino)-m-toluenesulfonic acid and formaldehyde, then oxidating, and then condensating with N, N-diethyl aniline, re-oxidating, and converting to sodium salt to get the product.

Uses of Acid Violet 17: It is applied to dye wool and silk, and directly print silk, nylon and viscose fabrics. It can also be used for coloring of leather, paper, foil, soap, ink and food.
