Preparation of the Benzenesulfonic acid,4-methyl-, octyl ester: It can be prepared by toluene-4-sulfonyl chloride and octan-1-ol. This reaction is a kind of Tosylation. It will need reagent Me2N(CH2)6NMe2 and solvent acetonitrile. The reaction time is 1 hour and the temperature is 0-5 °C. The yield is about 95 %.
Uses of the Benzenesulfonic acid,4-methyl-, octyl ester: It can be used to produce 1-fluoro-octane at temperature of 130 °C. It will need reagents AgF and 2,2'-bipyridine. Besides, the reaction time is 0.75 hour and its yield is about 97 %.
