Preparation of Methyl 6-chloronicotinate: this chemical can be prepared by the reaction of Diazomethane with 6-Chloro-nicotinic acid.

Uses of Methyl 6-chloronicotinate: this chemical is used as building block in chemical synthesis. Additionally, it can react with 3-Mrcapto-propionic acid methyl ester to get 6-Thioxo-1,6-dihydro-pyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester.



This reaction needs Sodium methoxide and Dimethylformamide at ambient temperature for 1 hour. The yield is 92 %.
