The Oil Yellow DEA is an organic compound with the formula C₁₆H₁₉N₃. The IUPAC name of this chemical is N,N-diethyl-4-phenyldiazenylaniline. With the CAS registry number 2481-94-9, it is also named as C.I. Solvent Yellow 56; 4-(Diethylamino)azobenzene. The product's categories are dyes and pigments; organics; solvent dyestuff. It is reddish yellow powder.

Preparation of Oil Yellow DEA: It can be obtained by N,N-diethyl-4-(phenyl-ONN-azoxy)aniline with solvent benzene at 17 °C and irradiation. This reaction which needs 5 hours can get another product diethyl-[4-(N-phenyl-ONN-azoxy)-phenyl]-amine. The yield is 10%.

Uses of Oil Yellow DEA: It is mainly used for puree coloring of polyester fiber. And it can react with peroxybenzoic acid to get N,N-diethyl-4-phenylazoaniline N-oxide. This reaction needs solvent CHCl₃ at ambient temperature. The reaction time is 30 hours. The yield is 32%.
