Its pharmacological effects are due to binding to muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. It is an antimuscarinic agent. Atropine sulfate anhydrous is used as a cycloplegic, to temporarily paralyze the accommodation reflex, and as a mydriatic, to dilate the pupils.
