Rhus wax is extracted from the hull of Rhus fruit by physical squeezing and/or solvent extract. Rhus wax consists of 90%-95% of higher fatty acid triglycerides, 3%-5% free fatty acid and 1%-2% of free fatty alcohol.

Characteristics:

(1) Its appearance is pale yellow, yellow green, gray white, gray yellow solid. It is waxy, water-insoluble, brittle, tough, easy to fracture, lacklustre of crack surface, and will frosting after a long time placing
(2) Water-insoluble, soluble in organic solvents such as hot ethanol, n-hexane and chloroform, petroleum ether, oluene and trichloroethane
