Molybdenum Disulfide Powder

Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) is black powder, a “solid” lubricant. The coefficient of friction is between 0.03 and 0.06. It’s density is 4.8 mg/cc. MoS2 is quite underactive chemically. It is not soluble in water or organic solvent. It dissolves only in aqua-regia, hot concentrated sulfuric and nitric acids. It is stable in air under 360 °C.

Molybdenum Disulfide is mainly used as additives in greases as well as sintered pressed metal parts.
