Risedronate Sodium is a pyridinyl biphosphonate bone resorption inhibitor used to strengthen bones. It is used for the treatment of osteoporosis and Paget's disease of bone. It is a fine, white to off-white, odorless, crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and in aqueous solutions, and insoluble in common organic solvents. It acts by Inhibiting the osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and modulating the bone metabolism, resulting in decreased rate of bone turnover.
