Achromatic monoclinic crystal.The density of 3.097 g/cm3.Boiling point 35.7 ℃.Soluble in water.Slightly soluble in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, very slightly soluble in alcohol.Lose two crystallization water when heated to 113 ℃.Poisonous!Barium sulfide from barite and barium sulfide reduced by coal was prepared by wet grinding and adding hydrochloric acid under agitation.Barium sulfide can also be reduced by barite and coal powder, leached with calcium chloride solution, and then treated with carbon dioxide containing barium sulfide and calcium chloride leaching solution
