Resveratrol (RES) is a non-flavonoid polyphenol compound, which is thought to be a plant antitoxin, which is produced when plants are attacked by pathogens and environmental degradation. It is mainly found in 72 species of 31 genera, 12 families, such as grape, knotweed, peanut, mulberry, pine, maiteng, Korean sophora, etc.
Natural plant extraction method: take Polygonum cuspidatum as raw material, extract and separate crude Res, and then purify it. Crude extraction techniques mainly include organic solvent extraction, alkali extraction and enzyme extraction, microwave assisted extraction, CO2 supercritical extraction, ultrasonic assisted extraction and other new methods have also been used. The purpose of purification is to separate the cis and trans isomers of resveratrol and resveratrol glycosides from Res crude extract to obtain trans resveratrol. The commonly used purification methods include chromatography, silica gel column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, etc.
Resveratrol has significant antioxidant activity on animal and vegetable oils. Among the three oil samples with resveratrol concentration of 120, 240,360 mg/kg, 240mg/kg showed the strongest antioxidant activity. In the antioxidant test of lard, the antioxidant effect of resveratrol was stronger than that of tea polyphenols at the same concentration.

[Content determination method]
Using a C18 column, acetonitrile: water (30 :70, v/v) solution as mobile phase, the detection was carried out at 306 nm with a UV detector. The results showed that when the concentration of resveratrol was 10-250 μg/mL, there was a good linear relationship between the concentration and the peak area (r=0 9999). The recoveries were 92.5% ~ 1026%. The minimum detected concentration was 0 6mg/g. The enzymatic hydrolysis and conversion of polydatin and resveratrol can be measured simultaneously by adjusting the flow rate.

The market situation
1. Supply and demand
The resveratrol industry is highly concentrated, with only 4 or 5 companies actually producing resveratrol in the industry. Mainly shandong dongming gruss phytochemistry of resveratrol 50% biological technology co., LTD., shaanxi golden harvest biotech co., LTD. Mainly produces its own 98% resveratrol, resveratrol to 50% to 98% of the golden harvest buy macro benefit, golden harvest is 98%, almost production in the 4 tons/month, in addition to high pharmaceutical co., LTD., sichuan China hangzhou tree biochemical co., LTD for the synthesis of resveratrol 98%, synthetic phytochemistry price lower than a few hundred price, phytochemistry and synthetic ginseng to some trading company will sell, demanding buyers, of course, most of the buyers or phytochemistry of the main requirements.
In 2019, the output value of 50% is equivalent to that of 98%. At present, the domestic production capacity of 50% is 30 tons/month and 300 tons/year, of which 90% are exported to the United States, Canada, Western Europe and other places.
These companies accounted for 80.49% of global production value in 2016. Between 2012 and 2017, resveratrol production increased from 90.99 tons to 131.05 tons, with an average growth rate of 7.57 percent. China has the largest production area with abundant raw materials. Global consumption of resveratrol increased by an average growth rate of 5.59%. The United States is the largest consumer region due to greater demand for downstream applications. In 2016, the United States accounted for 54.39 percent of the total value of global consumption. The global market for resveratrol was $49 million in 2017, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 8%, and will reach $90 million by the end of 2025.
There are three main types of resveratrol products, including synthetic, fermentation and plant extracts. Each type has its own application industry. Applications include dietary supplements, cosmetics, food and beverages, and the downstream application industry will need more resveratrol. Therefore, resveratrol has great market potential in the future. The manufacturing industry is trying to improve the technology to make resveratrol with good performance.
